The Captain Guide: Vault - The Prison.

This area is optional, and requires going out of your way. While there can be valuable items and a potential crew member, it may not be worth the trouble.

To get to the Vault, you must head to the Grand Central Junkyard which is above Lyme on the Star Map.

When you first arrive, you will be confronted by a large Capture Pod. It is impossible for you to destroy the Capture Pod, outside of using a Nuke Module and a Nuke, or stun rockets.

If you do use a Nuke, you can explore the Junkyard and scan 3 areas for an Engine v3 upgrade, a Star Fragment and some Precious Metals.

If you don’t, you will automatically be captured and sent to the Vault after some scenes.

The Prison

Leave the transport when prompted. After some scenes, head through the scanning machine and keep heading right, after more scenes. Stand in the middle of the machine and you will be moved to your cell.

Inside your cell, you can click the magnifying glass icon at the top to view all the cells in the area, including the prisoner who was with you earlier.

You can talk to the prisoners, such as Upo in Cell #3 who will tell you to get the inmate in Cell #4 (one of the Ducit brothers) into Cell #3 and you will get protection.

You can talk to Maval in Cell #5 who is willing to help you get a weapon that will nullify the Capture Pods.

After talking, you will be brought back to your cell and are introduced to a medical droid who will unlock a panel in your cell. You can call for food with the left button, medical services for the middle and recreation on the right. Food and recreation can only be called once a day, but medical services can be called at any time.

Leaving Early

If you go to the recreation room, you can head right and speak to the Ball Player inmate. You can learn the rules of Floatball from them, as well as get a practice session. You can choose to bet with the Ball Player, choosing something to pass the time as the option. The Ball Player will bet a tool they used if you can bring cigarettes to bet.

Pass a day in your cell and then call the food droid. You can get cigarettes from the droid if you can come up with a prime number with 20 million digits. Accept your Food Tray in the meantime but don’t eat it.

Call the medical droid and ask for a prime number with 20 million digits. Mention the food droid said the medical droid was too slow to try and get it, but learn that the medical droid can’t do it unless you are sick.

Rest for 2 more days and your Food Tray will turn into Old Moldy Food. Eat the Food, then call the medical droid over. Now that you are actually sick, you can get the number from the medical droid.

Call the food droid and give the prime number to get Cigarettes. You can now go to the recreation room and bet the Cigarettes in a game of Floatball. You will play a game of Floatball where the first to 3 points wins.

Some tips would include:

  • Holding the mouse button gives you longer throws and lets you move faster.
  • Short throws that you can make, especially throws that you can reach close to the goal, will help score points.
  • Work out at the recreation room the day before by lifting weights/running on the treadmill to improve your speed and throwing skills.
  • Longer throws are better when the ball is in your half of the court, while shorter throws are better when you are in the opponent’s half of the court.
  • You can push your opponent out of the way with your movements.

When you win, you get the Handmade Tool. If you lose, you can always challenge the Ball Player to another rematch.

Check the Access Panel under the Rules in your cell. Examine the Access Panel to find a screw at the top, and drag the Homemade Tool to the screw to open it. You will now be able to control the cells and open them with the switches on the circuit board.

To put the Upo and the Ducit brother together, you can do the following:

On the “Relocate to Empty” line, hit the following buttons:

  1. Relocate Cell #4
  2. Relocate Cell #3
  3. Relocate Cell #2
  4. Relocate Cell #5
  5. Transfer Cell #4

That should move the Ducit brother to Upo.

After that is done, head back to your cell and take the Chip away under “Cells” in the Access Panel circuit board. Put the Chip from your inventory into the “Vent” section.

Talk to Maval (who is nearly ready for release) and ask him for some of his belongings. Maval will try and throw a battery to you, and with the Vent’s help it will be moved to Cell #4. You can also talk to Maval about floatball to learn that the gravity bracelets have Dromium inside.

Return to the circuit board and take the Chip from the “Vent” section and put it back into “Cells”. Input the following to get the battery:

  1. Relocate Cell #1
  2. Relocate Cell #4
  3. Open Cell #1

That will drop the Battery into your cell, which you can then place into the circuit board. You will then be released from your cell, and you can head left to inspect a box to get your belongings back. Use your Bracelet in the upper left to call Shuttle and leave with the landing pod.

Saving Maval

Before leaving, you can inspect the Small Panel around the area where the cell dropped you. You can open the screw with your hands (just interact with it) and you can flip a switch that will drop Maval as well.

You will automatically recruit Maval. Call Shuttle to leave and you will gain a new crew member, as well as the EMP Blaster and Shot recipe you were promised.

Escaping With Anti-Gravity

Head back to the recreation room and challenge the Ball Player to another game of Floatball. A broken anti-gravity wrist band will be wagered. Win the game to get the Anti-Gravity Wrist Band in your inventory. If you lose the game, you won't be able to accept the offer again and will have to choose another way to get out.

Return to your cell and inspect the Access Panel circuit board. Pull the Chip from whatever slot it is currently in, go to your inventory and drag the Chip to the Anti-Gravity Wrist Band.

Select the Anti-Gravity Wrist Band and choose the “Activate” option. You will then float around as if you were playing floatball, only the prison is actively trying to capture you.

Make your way west and hide behind the small blue cylinders with a yellow line. When the turret aims at the box, it will short-circuit everything, stopping the turrets and lowering a gate that you can pass through on your left.

Head through the gate, inspect the box for your belongings and call Shuttle with the Bracelet to leave with your landing pod.

Serving Your Sentence

If you like, you can lie down on the bed and choose to wait out your sentence (25 days). You will then be let out without much fuss.

When you are dropped off, interact with the box on your left to get your belongings back. Select your Bracelet in the upper left and then contact Shuttle to call down a landing pod and leave.

You can get 1 of 3 Ending Cards depending on your choices.

If you chose to serve out your sentence in peace, you will get the “Model Inmate” Ending Card.

If you escaped with the Anti-Gravity Wrist Band, you will get the “A Flying Escape” Ending Card. You will get the Anti-Gravity Wrist Band which you can dismantle for Dromium.

If you managed to leave early (with or without Maval), you will get the “A Hacker’s Escape” Ending Card. If you left with Maval, you will get him as a crew member, as well as the EMP Blaster and Shot recipes.

You can now head back to Lyme or Pi to continue your journey. You can also challenge the Capture Pod again, using the EMP weapon (in your defense slot) to take it out and harvest resources from the Junkyard.
