When you land, select the Steep Hill to slide down. You can’t go up the Hill again, but you can head left of the Hill to find a Big Rock. Interact with the Rock to push it down and reveal Climb Friendly Markings, which will allow you to climb back up.

Make your way to the right and you will see the Fuel Cell in the sand. Interact with it to put it in your inventory.
You can leave if you like, but you can inspect the Impact Crater where the fuel cell was to uncover a Metal Hatch.
Interact with the Metal Hatch to open it and jump inside. You will see a Blue Button on the left, a Red Button on the right and an Inscription on the wall in the middle.
The button you press, and by extension the symbol that is activated does matter for exploring a planet named Xerum, but this is only relevant if you choose to
Regardless of which button you press, you will be forced out of the area you were in and won’t be able to go back. All you can do is return to the landing pod and go back.
You will get 1 of 3 Ending Cards depending on your choices.
If you just take the Fuel Cell and leave, you will get the “Fuel Cell” Ending Card.
If you take the Fuel Cell, uncover the hatch, jump down and press the Blue Button, you will get the “Blue” Ending Card.
If you take the Fuel Cell, uncover the hatch, jump down and press the Red Button, you will get the “Red” Ending Card.
This should conclude your journey on the Desert Planet.
If you rescued Glacies, you will learn of the Bulkidus Crash Site, which nets you the “Bulkidus Marks The Spot!” Ending Card. The location will be marked on your Star Map.
The closest destination to visit is VL-624. While you don't have to go there, you can get a variety of rewards regardless of what you do on the planet, and it is worth a visit.
