redeclipse-logo Red Eclipse is a single-player and multi-player first-person ego-shooter, built as a total conversion of Cube Engine 2, which lends itself toward a balanced gameplay, completely at the control of map makers, while maintaining a general theme of agility in a variety of environments.

The project is a Free and Open Source game, built on Cube Engine 2 using SDL and OpenGL which allows it to be ported to many platforms; you can download a package for Windows, Linux/BSD, Mac OSX, or grab a development copy from our Subversion repository and live on the bleeding edge.
In a true open source by the people for the people nature, we try to work closely with the gaming and open source communities to provide a better overall experience, aiming to create a game environment that is fun and easy to play, while still having elements to master.

If you think you might have something to contribute to the game or community, please feel free to drop by our Chat or Forums and talk to us directly. We try to maintain a standard of friendly behaviour in our community, so don't be afraid to speak up and have your say in building this game for us all-

  • Make sure you have the SDL, SDL-image and SDL-mixer libraries installed
  • Download the linux_bsd tarball archive from here.
  • Unpack the contents to somewhere appropriate
For example using
tar -xf redeclipse_1.2_linux_bsd.tar.bz2
  • Move to the unzip location and run the game
cd redeclipse/
./redeclipse.sh

Debian

If you are running Debian Wheezy (testing) or Sid, Red Eclipse is available through the (unofficial) "contrib" and "non-free" repositories.

Ubuntu

Ubuntu 12.04

Red Eclipse is available through the standard "multiverse" repository, you can enable this repository and install Red Eclipse using the Software Centre.

Ubuntu 11.10 & 10.04

Red Eclipse is available via PlayDeb

Arch Linux
