A new survey commissioned by GameHouse, the RealNetworks video-game division, finds that women who play online games are more social than those who don’t and also have sex more frequently than their non-gaming counterparts.
Social scientists may forever debate the question of cause and effect on this one.
But on a more serious note, the survey also found that 55 percent of people who play online games are women, debunking a traditional stereotype. The survey of more than 2,000 U.S. adults by Harris Interactive took into account games played on computers, social networking sites and mobile devices.
“Maybe if we all watched a little less TV and played more games online, we’d all be having a little more sex,” said Matt Hulett of GameHouse, in a news release announcing the results. “Joking aside, this survey matches up with our internal data that women are widely embracing online games with 63% of GameHouse players being women. It’s nice to know that females who play online games are happy – both in their relationships and even in the bedroom.”
Here’s a massive GameHouse infographic breaking down the rest of the results.
