Dave 3D is a Free media data-only project for the Duke Nukem 3D source code

Dave3D is a Free Software content replacement for the D*k*3D Source code released under the GPL.
The from-scratch 'replacement' will be loose as possible to not trespass onto any lineness territories. No lines from popular or famous cult movies, no lizards, and the hero's similarities ends at the color of the blue pants. There will still be "chicks" however.

The art direction will be taken to a 1994-1995 level with overused untextured shiny CGI and fair amounts of pixel pushery. The audio will have a similar direction with memory efficient low Hz VOC format sounds, though the MIDI music will hopefully be less boring. Combining all this will recreate the 'charm' of the original game, without taking anything from the original game :)

Due to the license clash of the Build engine (non-commercial internet distribution only) vs. the D3D source (GNU GPL version 2), there will be no bundled releases of the data with any engine. It aims to be compatible with any port of the game - including the original DOS version.

XBlast is a massively enhanced bomberman-like multi-player arcade game for Linux/UNIX.

XBlast is a multi-player arcade game inspired by the video/computer game Bomberman (Dynablaster).

Features:

- 2 to 6 players
- 1 or 2 players per X-Server (or up to 6 with joysticks)
- about 1000 levels
- about 20 player models
- PoV-Ray rendered color graphics
- central server support with statistics

If you want to host games you need to install the xblast-tnt-levels package, and you might want to install xblast-tnt-sounds for sound support. The xblast-tnt-musics package contains background musics for the game, if you like.

XBlast is a massively enhanced bomberman-like multi-player arcade game for Windows and Linux/UNIX.

The game can be played in single or teams mode, with at least two players and up to six players.

The game features many cool extras, multiple player models, many many different bomb types and hundreds of levels (a level editor is also available).

The game was inspired by the video/computer game Bomberman (Dynablaster), which was to my knowledge first programmed for NEC's PC Engine/Turbo Grafx. Other commercial versions of the original game exist for IBM-PC, Atari ST, Amiga, NES, GameBoy and Super NES.

xbattle is a multi-player real time strategy game

xbattle Xbattle is a concurrent multi-player game which combines elements of strategy with arcade-like action to capture a wide range of military scenarios. Opponents play from separate displays, with commands being executed concurrently -- the players do not take "turns", but rather they all issue their commands simultaneously.

There can be any number of players, with each player assigned to a specific team, indicated by marker colors. The game board is a matrix of cells (square, hexes, etc.) that can be occupied by colored troops, with the goal of the game being to eliminate the enemy from the board by attacking cells occupied by enemy troops. A wide variety of command line options (and previously configured game files) provide an abundance of different scenarios and gaming environments.

The game was originally written for unix systems using the X Window System. Many military-type scenarios can be played out in this game. The board is very generic, consisting of repeated geometric shapes (hexagons, triangles, squares, or octagon with squares). Water obstructions can be included and randomly generated boards are often used. Each player is assigned a color. Each player gets a pre-set number of bases that generate "troops". Troops look like blobs of color, with strength indicated by the size of the blob in the location. Troops can be moved around the board to take over additional squares or opposing bases. Supply lines thin out, so the opposing force usually tries to cut off your supply lines. There are numerous options, including fog-of-war limits on visibility, dig and paratrooper options. Some recent versions include a single player AI option with two quite sophisticated AI engines. There is also possible to prepare a game with AI versus AI only.
This game does not run as client server. Instead, it opens windows on all the clients using the X window system, so it is really just a single application running multi-headed. However, there is a version 6.0 which has a developer version of network client-server code, currently rather unplayable.
The X-Battle project has been orphaned several years. In year 2009 there was a try to revive the project a bit at the University of Gdansk, where a highly motivated group of five students take the code from stable AI 1.2.2 version and prepare it to further development (version 1.2.3). The code was refactorized, and there are quite a few improvements added, such as an improved client-sever code or AI's ability to dig (right now it is experimental, and digging is done randomly, but it works). If the project would not stop there should be a newer stable version with modern client-server interface, which can help to populate this awesome game across the world.

Cytadela is a conversion of an old Amiga first person shooter.

cytadela2 Cytadela is a conversion of an old Amiga first person shooter. The original was created in mid 1990's by Virtual Design, and released firstly in Poland and then in other countries.

This is a single player game in which the player fights against AI enemies. The goal of the game is to find six bomb parts with which the Citadel has to be blown up. To achieve it, the player not only has to defend himsefl against the enemies, but (s)he also has to solve many riddles, such as swithcing apropriate buttons in order to open some door, move some walls, etc.

Find out more about the aim and the gameplay.
As a conversion, this project tries to be as similar to the original as possible (but, what I think is quite obvious, this could not be achieved in 100%) and therefore there won't be any significant changes, only some gameplay improvements are possible.

However, Cytadela is a Free Software, which means if someone would like to modify it somehow, (s)he is free to do so (see the license).

09.07.2009 - Cytadela 0.9 finally released

At last, after several years of development, I can finally announce a fully playable conversion of the great Amiga game, Cytadela! This version, 0.9, brings all the levels of the original version with all in-game features.
Some other notable changes are:

    *     the game finally works on big-endian systems (many thanks to Tomasz Wiśniewski for his help with testing the big-endian support)

    *     two info screens showing information about in-game controllers, created by Marcin 'Senkal' Sękalski (the screens are displayed before training levels)

    *     WASD keys as alternative keys for walking (forward/backward and strafe left/right)

The full list of changes is available in the change log.

As always, the game can be downloaded as a source code and as compiled binaries. However, this time the Debian packages will be available some time later.
The final version, 1.0, will bring just fixes of bugs found in 0.9 and perhaps some minor improvements.

Crystal Core is a first person shooter with many quests and puzzle elements.

crystal_core Crystal Core is the main Crystal Space demo game. It makes heavy use of CEL and CELstart.

It is going to be a first person shooter with many quests and puzzle elements.

Here you can download the first tech demo of Crystal Core. This version features:
  • A game menu where you can start the game and change a few options.
  • Two levels out of the game.
  • Two creatures that will try to follow and attack you.
  • A small quest that you have to solve in order to get access to some part of the level.
  • Nice music and sound effects.
  • Working inventory system, health, and ammo system.
It has the following known problems:
  • Graphics intensive. If you don't have a good 3D card then it will be slow.
  • There is a bug that prevents going back to the menu after killing the first alien and when it spawns again.
  • There is a crash at exit on Linux.
  • On some systems the menu is corrupted when you return to it from the game.
  • This demo is really very limited. After you kill the two monsters there is nothing more to do.
The three main purposes of Crystal Core are:
  • Be a good and playable game.
  • Be a good tutorial on how to make games using Crystal Space, CEL, and CELstart.
  • Spawn a modding community. Crystal Core is heavily modular and extensible.

Check out the developers site for more information about the game.
